Right Antenna length is importand for rtlsdr / dump1090
The length of the orginal supplied antenna of my Terratec T Stick was 10 cm. I shortened it to around 6,5 cm to increase the performance of ads-b receive coverage. Here you can read how the data was recorded. Here are the results:

dump1090 with MySQL support
Antirez wrote a very impressive piece of software. It is called dump1090 and is an Mode-S / ADS-B decoder for rtl-sdr. I use a Terratec T-Stick (black) which has the best performance even with the supplied antenna.
I extended dump1090 to feed a MySQL Database to record the received position data. You will find it at github:

I added the mysql file to create the database and some scripts to fetch the position data from mysql. You will find the files in the tools/mysql folder of dump1090. There are also some scripts to generate gpx/gps tracks out of the recorded data. You will need gpsbabel to convert the data and Viking to visualize.

2-Meter YU1LM Bandpass Filter (144 MHz BPF)
For my UHFSDR Project i built a YU1LM 2-Meter Bandpassfilter. The PCB was cut using a Proxxon Micromot Dremel Tool. The space is ideal for 0805 SMT Capacitors.
SMA Connectors are soldered direktli isolated to the TEKO enclosure.
The filter has to be revisited. Initial frequency is the local ATC at Dresden Airport, but far away from 144.300 MHz. So the coils need to be modified. Maybe i keep this filter and will built a second one.
Below you see the finished Filter in a TEKO HF Enclosure from Conrad. Size is 53 x 53 mm.

Just worked 9J2KK in Lusaka City with 1 Watt :-)
Just worked Katsumi (9J2KK) in Lusaka City in JT65A Mode and my Softrock RXTX Ensemble with 1 Watt and my Short Vertical. Nice. I think i had luck, because i was the first who heard him.
